# 2938  2019 All Tournament Teams

The All Tournament Teams for 2018 were announced at each final on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments.

# 2926  Penn Yan Secures 24th Win

Penn Yan came back in overtime to defeat Pal-Mac 10-9 to win their 24th Sectional Title.  The Mustangs trailed early in the contest before taking a one goal lead into the break.  They held that lead into the fourth, when Pal-Mac scored the final two goals of regulation to force overtime.  The Red Raiders had the first overtime offensive opportunity after winning the draw; however, they could not get a shot off on cage before Penn Yan got the ball upfield on an errant pass.  The Mustangs scored with 0:05 left in the first overtime period with an inside dodge by Colton Smith. Smith was named to the All Tournament Team.

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the last game of the regular season, Marcus Whitman (9-7) defeated Eastridge (3-13) 15-8 as Seth Benedict led the Wildcasts with 4g-3a. DeCouteau Blueye added 3g-1a and Ryan Herod and Kyle Murphy each added four points. Justyn Hiscock scored 5g-2a and Zachary Hiscock added 1g-3a for the Lancers.

# 2900  Marcus Whitman Wins 2nd OT Game in a Row

Marcus Whitman defeated B-H on Tuesday 12-11 in the first overtime period (HERE) and tonight they did it again, this time defeating Mynderse 12-11 in the first overtime period.  Tonight, they fought back with the final two goals of regulation to force overtime.  The Blue Devils held a four goal lead late in the third before Marcus Whitman started a 5 out of 6 goal stretch to tie the game at 9-9 halfway through the fourth.  Connor Tomion scored the final three goals for the Wildcats.  He finished with 4g on the game.

# 2895  Marcus Whitman Holds Strong in OT

Marcus Whitman held off a late push by Bloomfield-Honeoye to defeat the Pride 12-11 in the first overtime period.  The Wildcats had a six goals stretch to the end the third and start the fourth quarter.  The streak took them to a three goal lead with just under six minutes remaining in regulation.  The Pride fought back and scored three goals of their own before regulation expired.  However, it was Kyle Murphy who scored the game winning goal for the Wildcats in overtime.

Teammates and coaches celebrated with Marcus Whitman junior midfielder Seth Benedict after their Mynderse game in recognition of his scoring his 100th (and 101st) goal in the game. Seth's career record started in his eigth grade season when he scored 4g-3a on the Wildcat Varsity. He currently has 101g-68a.

In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Thomas scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Pittsford 12-11. On the other end of town Penfield defeated Schroeder by a goal in the last minute of the game.

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closet game of the night, Schroeder defeated Irondequoit 11-10. This is the third overtime game of the season for the Eagles (and the first that they have lost). AJ Fiorio scored his second goal of the game with 2:49 remaining in overtime with a feed from Connor Ball to give the Warriors the win.

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Jack Brennan scored the overtime goal to give Irondequoit a 12-11 win over HFL tonight. Hilton won an 8-7 overtime win when Justin Mosher scored on a feed from Jordan DePetres. Marcus Whitman won an 11-9 victory over Gates Chili and Midlakes had a 10-8 win overt Mynderse.

Cullen Coons scored his third goal of the game just over one minute into the first overtime period to give Livonia-Avon the 17-16 win over Marcus Whitman.  Ryan Lambert, who led Livona-Avon with 6g-1a, recorded his lone assist on the overtime goal.  Livonia-Avon controlled the majority of the first three quarters before the Wildcats fought back in the fourth to take their first lead of the game with 6:01 remaining in regulation.

After a close start, Fairport scored twelve of the next thirteen goals for their win at Penfield. Nine different players made the offensive book for th Red Raiders, with Reese Burek (2g-2a) and TJ Hendricks (3g) leading the list. Jake Santini made 8 saves (62%) in the cage for the Red Raiders who finished their regular season at 8-8.

Webster Thomas played a close one with Hamburg (Section VI). The Titans led 5-3 at the half and the teams traded goals in the second half. Brad Smith and Nick Mabe each had 2g-2a for Thomas. Fairport (11-3) travelled south to beat Corning (12-4) of Section IV with TJ Hendricks (1g-2a) and Jake Bucci (2g-1a) leading the Red Raider offense.

DAY IN REVIEW: Junior midfielder Shea McDonald scored the winning goals with 10.1 seconds left in overtime to give Brighton (4-3) the win over visiting Canandaigua (6-3) with a scored of 14-13. Casey McDermott was the scoring leader for the Barons with 4g-2a. Brett Randall added 4g.

Mark Belles scored 3g and Mitch Pfeiffer added 1g-2a for the Braves (6-2). Tim Rice made 10s (71%) and Brandon Moore recorded 6s (67%) for CA.

Wayne Central (3-1) scored seven goals in the first quarter before defeating Marcus Whitman in a Finger Lakes League game. Eleven different players made the offensive scorebook and Zach Boyatzies lead the list with 2g-4a. Wayne senior goalie Jared Laird scored his first Varsity goals in the game and posted 2s (65%) in the cage. Seth Benedict scored 4g-1a for the Wildcats.

# 1147  Friday: Marcus Whitman Wins Season Opener

DAY IN REVIEW: After one game was postponed due to weather concerns, the only game played on Friday was Watkins Glen at Marcus Whitman. The Wildcats won their first game of the season 14-6 with solid performances by Timmy Cornish (4g-2a), Schuyler Bredesen (2g-3a), DeCouteau Blueye (3g) and Seth Benedict (4g-3a). Junior goalie Michael Dhondt made 9s (60%).
